As soon as summer came, it’s gone again and in its place is fall. Water sports will be coming to an end and instead, we’ll all head back inside for another season. When you and your child go back to school, will you be prepared? A lot of adults complain about back issues while they are in school, so it’s not surprising that children often have these same issues. Here are two of our favorite health tips for you and your child as we head back into the classrooms.
Backpacks Should Be Worn Correctly
Children students, adult students, and teachers all often use backpacks to carry their materials. But not all of them understand the need for wearing the backpack securely. The common backpack can hold as much as 20 percent of the wearer’s weight, so wearing it wrong can cause some intense back pain and misalignment. Before you go back to school, make sure that you have a bag that can be worn over both shoulders and sits above your waist.
Sit Correctly in Class During All Tasks
We get it, sometimes it’s hard to wake up in the morning and go to school. It usually results in slouching forward or leaning back while seated. Both of which do not help the safety of your back. Instead, your spine is being bent into awkward positions that damage it over time. This is why standing after sitting like this often gives a wave of relief. The correct posture during extended periods of time should always be used when possible.
