Stay Active & Healthy During the Holiday Season

The holidays are a busy time of year! Whether it’s shopping, holiday parties, school events, or travel, exercise often gets pushed to the wayside during the holiday season. Here are a few tips to help you stay active and healthy during the holidays.

Start with A Plan

If you know your week is jam-packed and you can’t make your regularly scheduled workouts, plan ahead and reschedule them whenever possible. If you can’t make it work, set your alarm just 30 minutes earlier and slip into your sneakers for a brisk walk outside. Walking is great exercise and will help you start the day off right.

Speaking of walking, when you are tackling holiday shopping, park your car at the end of the parking lot to get more steps in and be sure to take the stairs whenever possible.

Move More

If you can’t make your regular exercise routine work during the holiday season, you can still incorporate some body weight exercises throughout your day. Start with calf raises while you are brushing your teeth or standing in line and try walking lunches while vacuuming. Lifting heavy boxes of holiday decorations and shopping or grocery bags? Be sure to lift with your legs and throw in a few bicep curls if you can. It might seem silly, but every little bit of movement will help you feel your best.

Involve the Whole Family

Whether you’re entertaining guests or sticking with your own household, the whole family can get moving. Organize after-dinner walks, hikes, or even a game of football! It’s a great way to spend time together and stay active.

Get Adjusted at Healthy Life Chiropractic

Staying active isn’t always easy, but it’s definitely more challenging if you are suffering from pain or immobility. Regular chiropractic adjustments can help keep your spine in great health. Your body was made to move and issues like back pain, neck pain, or lack of joint mobility shouldn’t hold you back from doing the things you enjoy.
